My Intention
Everything good starts with clear intention. It was my intention to 'see the world' this summer and visit someplace lush. The Universe listened and everything started falling into place. The Summer Peace Institute travel study program in Costa Rica jumped off the page of many other awesome study abroad options — the Netherlands, Kenya, Thailand — and was an amazing match for me: " bringing together a diverse international group of students with the purposes of inquiry and dialogue on current world issues related to peacebuilding and human security". I applied and was waitlisted, but preserved and held onto the vision of being in Costa Rica. Finally, I was accepted!
Financing the trip was another element of the process, and here too I remained committed to all of the elements lining up. I channeled all of my excitement into 500 words for a travel study scholarship, and went ahead to create a website project that could link all of the traveler's experiences together: summerpeaceinstitute2011.org. The dedication I showed must have inspired the readers, and I was over joyed when the news pinged my inbox that I had won the scholarship!!
With the emotional, financial, and loving support of my parents all the other elements of this journey manifested.
My intention statement for this trip: I am a student of the world, breathing presence in every moment of my travels, I open up loving heart and channel healing energy.
Outwardly I have many desires on this trip, including going bungee jumping!
